Science has moved forward at a rapid pace so that we now possess the data to reliably define dyslexia … For the student, the knowledge that he is dyslexic is empowering … [It provides him] with self-understanding and self-awareness of what he has and what he needs to do in order to succeed.”

~Sally Shaywitz, M.D. co-director of Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity in testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Science, Space  and Technology 99

The Yak Pack Comics & Phonics Book1 Short Vowels By Jennifer Makwana Come meet the Yak Pack!  They are in super cute decodable comic books!  This first book focuses on short vowels.  There is one story for each vowel and then a combination of all vowels. New readers will enjoy

What are Decodable Books? 📚Decodable books are stories that use a limited amount of words. 😊The words are based on sounds and syllable patterns that the child has already been taught. 😃They start with the basics and grow as the student’s skill set grows. 📖🎈I love this kind of book

Sally Shaywitz is a pioneer and expert on understanding dyslexia. I always recommend that parents read her book “Overcoming Dyslexia” because it is practical and written in understandable language instead of scholar talk. The FUN thing about understanding dyslexia is – You get to tell your child how AMAZING they

Our son had a solid foundation of phonics but was really struggling with fluency. Spelling was downright painful & we were desperate for help. Concerns about possible dyslexia and praises about her from a friend whose daughter graduated the program, led us to Sheri. He has come so far with her help and actually reads for fun now!

The many things we loved about Sheri Tacker and the dyslexia therapy my child received was her commitment to my child was amazing. She always gave my child the push he needed when it came to reading. Mrs. Tacker made reading fun all while working on my child’s level of reading mastery. My child gave up on reading and would be upset daily cause he just couldn’t do it. After being with Mrs. Tacker for a couple days we had already noticed a big difference in my child’s reading and he was reading sentences that before he just could not do. My child is now fully capable of the reading that is required in the upper grades in school.

My child was one of Sheri’s first students for dyslexia therapy. He started out frustrated and struggling with reading but graduated from her therapy with confidence and skill mastery to take him to the next level of his schooling. We are thankful we found her early in his academic career!

Our son has been working with and continues to work with Sheri in dyslexia therapy. He started in 3rd grade and is currently in 8th grade. Her level of commitment is amazing! They worked through Covid days online making the best of it. He is doing so much better than before! We are thankful!

My son learned so much working with Sheri!  She took him from the basic skills of learning letters and letter sounds to reading grade level material.  Mason was able to get instruction for his specific learning needs which not only improved his reading but his overall confidence.  We’re so proud of his gains in reading and feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful Dyslexia Therapist!!

Our family was so thankful to find answers and help for our struggling reader! Sheri was able to bring our child from tears about reading to loving “Goosbumps by R.L.Stine”. She now has a summer job working 2 days a week with her grandmother and she uses most of her money on books! She has a bookshelf filled with all kinds of things.

My son Shane went through this program with Mrs Tacker. I highly recommend it. She was at capacity for students when I contacted her about working with my son but she made room for him. She was extremely patient with my stubborn son. He hates to read and it is still not his favorite pastime, but I can see the results from this program. She is very thoughtful and gives one on one instruction which is so important. She even had a celebration for him when he completed the program including our family complete with a cookie cake and some books just for dyslexic readers!! Contact her, you will not be disappointed!
