Sally Shaywitz is a pioneer and expert on understanding dyslexia. I always recommend that parents read her book “Overcoming Dyslexia” because it is practical and written in understandable language instead of scholar talk.
The FUN thing about understanding dyslexia is – You get to tell your child how AMAZING they are in so many areas! He or she is probably great at sports, art, music, thinking outside the box, critical thinking, and so much more! The brain is fascinating – and the dyslexic brain is extra special – the difficulty of reading just has to be taught to the dyslexic brain in their particular way.
